We are 10!

On 6 June 2015, Ibiza Calm welcomed its first clients through the doors of what was then a four-bedroom residential rehabilitation centre, housed in an authentic Ibizan finca, on the beautiful Balearic island of Ibiza.
Since that day, the clinic has expanded steadily, not only in size but in its treatment scope and capabilities. And with that growth has come a reputation that now places it amongst the most personalised luxury treatment centres in Europe for addiction, mental health, and psychological wellbeing.
Ten years later, our founding mission remains unchanged; to provide exceptional clinical care in a peaceful, restorative environment where every client feels safe and supported, and that they are genuinely understood.
What has evolved is the breadth of what we offer, with expanded facilities, a larger therapeutic team, and a wider range of treatment pathways, all delivered with the same warmth and integrity that shaped Ibiza Calm from the beginning.
Our new home
In 2024, Ibiza Calm moved to its new residence: a beautiful estate in the north of Ibiza. Only a short drive from some of the island’s most picturesque villages and beaches, the property is built in the style of a traditional Ibicencan castle and sits within 13 hectares of Mediterranean gardens.
The grounds are serene and expansive, with palms, citrus trees, and olive groves surrounding pathways for walking and reflection. Earlier this year, the organic garden was expanded, and an herb garden was added, meaning even more of our home-grown produce can be used in our nutritious, chef-prepared menu. The private setting offers stillness and a sense of deep calm.
It is the perfect place to begin a journey of recovery.
A centre built on care, vision, and experience
Ibiza Calm was founded by Managing Director John McKeown and Director of Operations Stephen Clark, who shared a clear vision: to move away from outdated models of treatment and create a centre where comfort, dignity, personalised care, and clinical excellence sit at the heart of recovery.
Together with Medical Director Dr Manuel Rodríguez, they have developed a multidisciplinary team and a therapeutic culture that places the individual at the centre of their own care.
John McKeown, Managing Director
John has worked in the addiction and mental health field since 1987. He trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and is registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy. His work includes establishing the first drug and alcohol rehabilitation project in the British prison system, supporting UK premiership football clubs, and a private practice in London.
Stephen Clark, Operations Director
Stephen has more than 20 years of experience in addiction recovery and has helped hundreds of individuals during their earliest days of sobriety. A respected businessman, he brings considerable operational expertise and heartfelt commitment to the clinic.
Dr Manuel Rodríguez, Medical Director
Dr Rodríguez oversees all medical and clinical care. A psychiatrist trained in Malaga and Madrid, Spain, and New York, USA, he has extensive experience in addiction medicine and trauma, and a wide knowledge range of psychotherapeutic modalities, including EMDR, relational psychoanalysis, strategic therapy, and psychodrama.
Alongside the senior leadership team, Ibiza Calm is supported by a full complement of doctors, nurses, psychotherapists, and support workers. With medical staff on-site 24 hours a day, we ensure continuous, attentive care for every client. All our psychotherapists and counsellors are highly qualified, permanent members of the clinical team.
Ten years of growth, innovation, and personalised care
From our beginnings with four guest rooms, Ibiza Calm now offers a wide range of premium accommodation options across the estate. Each space has been designed to preserve the essential qualities of comfort, privacy, calm, and personal attention that define our approach.
We treat the full spectrum of addiction and mental health conditions, including alcohol and drug dependence, process addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and burnout. We are known for early intervention work, helping clients to manage symptoms before they escalate, as well as supporting individuals with long term or complex mental health conditions.
Our personalised therapeutic programme includes:
- One-to-one psychotherapy and counselling.
- Group therapy and psychoeducation.
- A full wellbeing programme including yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive brain stimulation therapy used for depression, anxiety, addiction, and trauma.
- Equine-facilitated therapy (delivered offsite with equine psychotherapist Kate Stillman).
- Medical detoxification and psychiatric support.
- Family support sessions.
- Weekly aftercare groups.
At the heart of everything we do is a focus on compassionate, evidence-based care.
Our three programme types
To meet the diverse needs of our clients, Ibiza Calm now offers three core programme options.
- Individual care programme: A comprehensive and structured programme offering one to one therapy, group participation, psychiatric input, and full access to the clinical and wellbeing timetable. It provides a highly personalised yet accessible approach to treatment.
- Full bespoke programme: Designed for clients who require flexibility, this programme allows for a fully customised therapeutic schedule. It includes one-to-one sessions, optional group participation, and tailored levels of clinical contact. It is ideal for clients balancing professional or personal commitments who need treatment built around them.
- La Casita programme: La Casita is our separate, stand-alone residence situated within the private estate. It offers total privacy, complete anonymity, and an enhanced level of personalised care. With its own entrance, pool, grounds, and dedicated team, it is ideal for individuals who require full discretion and a fully secluded therapeutic setting.
A day to remember
In October 2025, we marked the major milestone we reached in June, a decade of Ibiza Calm.
It was an unforgettable afternoon filled with joy, laughter, reconnection and heartfelt conversations, bringing together colleagues, supporters, family, and friends who have been part of our story. The atmosphere was warm and celebratory, and it meant a great deal to share this moment with so many who have contributed to our growth.
A short film of the day is included below.
